- "Oh man, I can't believe this-!?", said a clearly disappointed voice of a man so well known around the World. "Seriously, gimme a break...", the man continued to speak on the phone. - "Hey, Matt, man, I'm sorry ...but yeah, they just called to confirm the deal is off... at least for now... I'm literally just off the phone with the production company in Iceland", replied the man, his manager, on the other end of the line.
Matt Graham had been looking forward to going on another televised survival show in Iceland: they'd been talking about the contract for a few months already, but the timing just seemed off.
- "Alright, alright, that's alright then... well, at least I'll get more time to sort this house out, you know, that's like, you know, something positive about this...", mumbled Matt whilst continuing to pace around his house that was in the middle of renovation. "I've got to sort this house out... It's been going on a bit now and the winter is coming, so... You know, I guess it was meant to be !", he concluded.
After the call had finished, Matt paced around a bit more... He was never one to sit down anyway. Too much energy for that.
- "I gotta do something, I'll fix the curtain rails back on...", he thought to himself speaking out loud, and headed straight out to the utility shack located in the back of the garden to fetch a tall ladder.
Walking in the shack he caught a glimpse of something with the corner of his eye that totally got his attention and stopped him in his tracks.
- "Oh man, I can't believe this -!?", he uttered for the second time in a row that day, "Gimme a break....", he said with a voice filled with amazement as he quickly took a few almost shaky steps towards the corner of the utility shack.
There, hung on a hook on the side wall, lay a piece of his past: a dark brown studded leather collar that used to belong to his now deceased dog, a bull terrier called Rocky. It wasn't too long ago he'd passed over but Matt wasn't sure how the collar had ended up hung here -he'd thought he'd put all of his belongings in a big pile in the backyard which he'd burned to ashes. This collar was Rocky's very first collar, it must've been left out and got found by the guys doing the garden...
Matt grabbed the collar in his hands, and the man who never sat down, sat down.
